In September of 1996 I started a card club with 4 dear friends...Maggie, Patty, Phyllis, and Susie. We had played Crazy Rummy for years when visiting Phyllis' summer home on Keuka Lake in the beautiful Fingerlakes region of New York State. Smoky, Phyllis' son and Maggie's husband, had passed away and I saw card club was a way of keeping us all connected. We met once a month, varying whose home we meet at. The hostess provides food and drinks, we play 2 games, and we pay $5. Then twice a year we have dinner at a nice restaurant that we might not have been able to go to with our young families and limited budgets! Our first was Brumby's in Henrietta, NY. Our most recent was Richardson's Canal House. Over the nearly 19 years we have been playing, we have sadly lost 2 friends, gained 3 more, and card club goes on. My choices tonight were:
