Today was for the Birds...

June 6, 2015
37/365

Somehow catching hummingbirds in mid-flight is easier than capturing a 2 year-old sitting still.  Well...that's because still is a relative term.  At any rate, today was for the birds...hummingbirds, chickadees, and the elusive cardinal and Great Blue Heron that got away...  Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow!

Mmmmmm...Ice Cream

June 5, 2015

There is nothing like a vanilla ice cream cone with rainbow sprinkles...just ask Henry!

I Love Peanuts!

May 4, 2015
35/365

The chipmunks at camp are getting pretty brave!  This little guy was very interested in the peanuts we were having with our wine.  I was happy to share...as long as he'd let me take his picture.  He even posed!

Perspective

June 3, 2015
34/365

I don't have much of a view from my huge set of windows at work.  I'm thrilled to have some sunshine coming in...but the view pretty much sucks.  Mostly dead trees, snow plows, chain link fence, our bird feeder, and the Fairport bus garage.  Bethadilly's Challenge for yesterday was "what I'm looking at" and this is definitely what I was looking at.  Not very inspiring...

But this morning just as the sun was rising, in the blue hour, I got a glimpse of orange and ran out to see if I could get a silhouette.  This is all I could get that didn't include the above "stuff."  It's all in your perspective.

Five Friends...f5

June 2, 2015
33/365

Courtney, my teacher, told us "If you want everyone in the picture to be in focus, keep your f-stop the same as the number of people in the picture."  Well..I should have been at f5...not f 2.8.  Sorry Henry's fuzzy friends!

Harry Potter

May 31, 2015
31/365

Well I made it through the first month...only 11 left to go!  Today a cellphone shot of what I did most of the day...Harry Potter marathon...

Yup...that's all I got..but I have had a fabulous "never got dressed watched movies all day" kind of day!

A Beautiful Day...

May 30, 2015
30/365

So today was the day I chose to be my "A Day In The Life" project for my photography class.

A Great Day!

May 29, 2015
29/365

Such a fun Henry Day!!!  Today we played with the vintage Sesame Street apartment house and Sesame Street Clubhouse that our kids loved that I found on E-Bay.  Did Henry like it?  He did...

Then, since it was a hot day, we headed out to the sprinkler.  SO MUCH FUN!

Then Papa said he had something cool...

It was such a great day...

Vintage Grapefruit Wine

May 26, 2015
26/365

We have been holding on to this wine since 2005 when Jeff and Karen lived in Florida and we went to a grapefruit winery. Yes...grapefruit.  I thought I liked it then.  The best than can be said for it is that drinking it was better than throwing it out...but not by much!

Happy Memorial Day!

May 25, 2015
25/365

Jay, Megan and Henry came over this morning to pick up some more plants and for a visit.  We got Henry a pinwheel because my folks, the first Mimi and Poppa, would get them for our kids and it was a nice memory for me.  It's such a grandparent thing.  We had a really nice visit.  I might have taken a few pictures...

This is not technically a good picture, but I love it nonetheless...

Sharing some peanuts with Mommy...

And for the FIRST time, Henry rode is 4-wheeler with great joy!

Resilience...

May 24, 2015
24/365

In the fall I tip my pots over so they don't fill with water, freeze, and crack!  This year when I finally got around to cleaning out the flower beds at camp and refilling my pots, I found this pot, full of mint that refused to be denied!  I pulled it out of the drainage hole in the bottom, flipped the dirt ball over, and stuck it back in.  It looked sad...but I know it will come back!  Another minty picture later in the summer.

A Picture Perfect Day

May 16, 2015
16/365

Well...a bit out of order.  I was too busy having a great day to remember to post in order!  I called Meredith to see if she wanted to come out and play...I was at the Lilac Festival and since she had a new camera to play with we made a plan to take some pictures.  Alas there was no parking available so she picked me up and we headed to Mt. Hope Cemetery, a gorgeous photo spot.

So much beautiful statuary...the angels are especially beautiful.  We had a wonderful time and later met up with Jim for lunch at The Distillery.  A wonderful day!

Wow!

May 23, 2015
23/365

Part 3 of our assignment this week was to wow our instructors.  I don't know if I did that...but I wowed myself!  I love this!  The airplane and the bird just happened along at the perfect time.  Wow...

Framed

May 22, 2015
22/365

My assignment for this week was:
  • 01.Submit an image using either backlighting, silhouette, or dramatic light.
  • 02.Submit an image using either leading lines, framing or negative space.
  • 03.Impress us! Submit an image showing off some of the skills you have learned over the past five weeks.

This is my image showing framing...the chapel at Mt. Hope Cemetary.

This is my image showing a silhouette, the Garden Pavilion at Genesee Country Village.
